Your memories, painted in color.

Christina is the Bay Area's specialist in color realism without black outlines. She paints with the needle the way she paints on canvas, so your place, your garden or your moment looks alive on the skin.

01

No black outlines

Shapes are built from color, light and shadow, with soft natural edges that blend into the skin like a painting.

02

Bright, lasting color

Rich, saturated pigment that heals easily and stays vibrant for many years.

03

Made from your photo

Your real place, plant or memory, tattooed from the photo you bring. No generic flash.

The piece that started it all
“Underneath the pines.”

A client came to Christina with a photo of a real place: a stand of tall pines where her family spent their happiest days together. She didn't want a symbol of the place. She wanted the place itself.

Christina painted the trees on her forearm in deep greens and soft light, with no outlines, and set the GPS coordinates beneath them. Wherever she goes, the place goes with her.

When we shared it, people started writing in with their own places, gardens and journeys. That's how Small Happy became a specialty.

What works beautifully

Nature, memory and light.

Almost anything can be painted this way. These subjects are where the style shines brightest.

Places

The trees, coastlines and gardens that mean home. Add coordinates if you like.

Flowers & plants

Chrysanthemums, thistles, ivy, wildflowers from a garden you love.

Birds & butterflies

Soft feathers and wings, rendered with color and light instead of lines.

Moments

A favorite memory or a new chapter: travel, family, a milestone.

Best on: shoulders, arms, sleeves and full legs, where there's room to paint. Christina doesn't do very small tattoos packed with tiny details. Without outlines they get crowded and won't heal well. She'll help you find a size that lets your piece breathe.

Meet Christina

A painter who tattoos.

Christina is a dreamer, a traveler, a mother and an artist who sees beauty in everything.

She trained as a fine artist in Europe. For years she tattooed friends and fellow travelers around the world simply for the love of it, then made it her profession. Today she works one-on-one at Sacred Rose Tattoo in Berkeley.

Christina has her own way of seeing life and art, and you can see it in every piece. Her clients often tell her they were looking for exactly this style, and for a woman artist they could trust with something personal. Under the long dreadlocks and the ink, she's gentle, kind and happy. The name comes from that: every tattoo should leave you with a small happy.

Featured in the Berkeley press for her work as an artist in a local art gallery.

The experience

Clients call it tattoo therapy.

Many people expect a tattoo to be an ordeal. What clients describe after a session with Christina sounds more like a spa day.

A light hand.

Clients say it again and again: Christina's touch is gentle and steady, and the work feels easier than they expected.

Most people fall asleep.

An unhurried pace and one-on-one attention. Many clients doze off and say it felt like a massage.

Then the WOW.

Christina hears the same reaction at the mirror almost every time: it looks even better than they imagined.

You leave with art you'll love for life, and a small happy.

Questions

Good to know.

What is a color realism tattoo without outlines?

It's a realistic, full-color tattoo where shapes are built from color, light and shadow instead of heavy black linework, so the image looks painted onto the skin. It's sometimes called a no-line or painterly tattoo, and it's the only thing Christina specializes in.

Does a tattoo without outlines hold up over time?

Yes. Christina's pieces heal easily and the color stays saturated and vibrant for many years. If anything needs a refresh, a touch-up is quick, and your first one-hour touch-up after healing is free.

How much does it cost?

Every piece is custom, so pricing depends on size, placement and detail. Send a DM with your idea and Christina will give you a quote.

How long does a session take?

Most tattoos are finished in 1–2 sessions, with a 3-hour minimum per session.

Can you tattoo from my own photo?

That's exactly how Christina works. Send the photo of your place, garden, flower or moment and she'll paint from it.

Will I be working with a woman artist?

Yes. Christina works with you one-on-one from the first message to the final touch-up.

Do you do cover-ups?

Yes, cover-ups and consultations are available. Send a photo of the existing tattoo with your DM.

Is my tattoo too small for this style?

Very small pieces packed with fine details don't heal well without outlines. Christina will suggest a size that keeps your design clear and beautiful.

I'm coming from elsewhere in the Bay Area or California. Is that OK?

Of course. Clients regularly travel up to three hours to Berkeley from San Francisco, Oakland, Marin, the Peninsula, Sacramento and beyond. Most pieces are finished in one or two sittings, so you won't need many trips.
